What is AVR?

The IOM Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) programme assists asylum seekers and other irregular migrants, who wish to return from Australia to their home country voluntarily. The Programme provides a individualized return option, which is jointly planned, safe and dignified.

What services does IOM provide through AVR?

  • Information and counseling regarding voluntary return with IOM.
  • Assistance in obtaining passports or travel documents.
  • Assist in transport arrangements.
  • Arrange for assistance once you arrive.
