Vacancy announcements are published for positions of three months to one year. IOM recruits under two types of contracts: (i) Fixed-term contracts for one year and (ii) Special contracts, with a short period of employment (from 3 to 9 months).

IOM Australia Recruitment

Position Title: CASE WORKER FOR IOM ASSISTED VOLUNTARY RETURN (AVRR) PROGRAM
Type of Appointment: Fixed term, one year with possibility of extension
Duty Station: Sydney

Duties:
Case management; including voluntary return planning/counseling to migrants considering returning home, conducting information gathering/sharing interviews and delivering public information/outreach sessions. Develop tailored post-return reintegration support plans. Coordinate travel bookings & arrangements with IOM head Office in Canberra.  Liaise with Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP), foreign missions and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

A degree in humanities, social science or related field. Relevant work experience considered in lieu of formal qualifications. Case management experience with migrants an advantage. Experience working on humanitarian assistance projects; Excellent communication/people skills, initiative, ability to work independently or with team; operational or caseworker interview experience; ability to speak Arabic, Farsi, Pasto, Dari or Tamil an advantage.

Position Title: Bali Process Information Coordinator
Type of Appointment: Fixed term, one year with possibility of extension
Duty Station: Canberra

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Bali Process public website, regularly updating website content, initiating bulletins and updates, facilitating information exchange with the Bali Process membership and other Regional Consultative Processes and serving as the registration focal point for related events.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as Bali Process webmaster and ensure Bali Process public website is regularly updated with meeting and workshop events and related documents;
  2. Ensure website functionality including maintenance of member country and other agency website links;
  3. Draft workshop/meeting descriptions and summaries;
  4. Draft and send out information bulletins, alerts and other updates to Bali Process members and observers;
  5. Establish and maintain regular contact with other migration related Regional Consultative Process (RCP Secretariats to promote and facilitate information exchange;
  6. Coordinate registration and logistics for workshops and events held by the Bali Process as well as under the AU-ASEAN framework of cooperation.
  7. Contribute to the development, maintenance and updating of the IOM Australia country website
  8. Drafting IOM information updates for IOM Australia and offices under its coordination;
  9. Other duties that may be assigned
Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in communications, social science or related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in similar roles; or
  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Three years related experience working in project evaluation/review;
  • Experience in communication and information dissemination.

Position Title: Intern ? Migration Services to Australia
Type of Appointment: 3 months
Duty Station: Canberra

Context:

Under the overall supervision of Chief of Mission in Canberra and the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the successful candidate will support the development of the marketing strategy for the roll out of migration agency services.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the analysis and documentation of the internal and external operating environment. SWOT/PESTEL, etc.
  2. Assist with developing, and expanding marketing channels/methodologies to the Migration services professionals, the migrants and refugees communities and the public at large.
  3. Contribute to the development of a market research plan designed to contribute to analysis of the target market (segments) incorporating a variety of research methods and having regard to culture and gender diversity issues.
  4. Participate in conducting market research employing a range of data collection techniques.
  5. Aggregate, summarize and present data in an informative and professional format to facilitate management decision making.
  6. Assist with developing and documenting a formal marketing strategy & marketing plan
  7. Any other tasks as may be required.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Master of Marketing graduate or student
  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing, graduates may be considered on a merits basis.

Experience

  • Strong knowledge of marketing principles and applications relating to marketing of new projects/programmes
  • Strong knowledge of services marketing principles and channels
  • Prior marketing experience preferred, but not required.

Call for applications for a Roster of ACP-EU Experts on Migration

The Regional Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brussels is establishing a roster of experts for short and mid- term consultancies (maximum 60 days) to respond to requests of technical assistance by African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries, particularly in the migration areas of remittances, visas and readmission. Such areas arein accordance with the recommendations of the African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) ? European Union (EU) Dialogue on Migration.

Experts applying will be registered depending on their fulfilment of the below criteria. They might be contacted by the ACP-EU Migration Action Central Unit to further inquire on their interest and availability for a specific mid- or short-term assignment through deployment, for provision of technical expertise to an ACP Government/ ACP Regional Organization.

Technical assistance provided in the framework of these assignments can encompass different activities, depending on the request by the ACP Government. Specific ToR for each assignment will be developed ad hoc and shared with the experts that will be contacted.

The delivery of such technical assistance by the experts will require a thorough understanding of the TORs of the specific assignment, of the local context, and of the technical assistance request by the ACP Government. The preparation of the assistance will need constant and direct contact with the ACP-EU Migration Action Central Unit of IOM.

Criteria for inclusion in the ACP-EU Migration Experts Roster

  • Nationality

This call for applications is open only to nationals of the ACP Member States and of the European Union (EU) member states. Proof of nationality is requested upon application (please see below ?Application for inclusion in the roster?).

  • Required Qualifications

Required Professional Experience and Competencies

  1. Proven track-record of professional experience on migration;
  2. At least 7 years of professional experience in a field related to migration governance;
  3. Professional experience in at least one ACP country, preferably working in close cooperation with national authorities/institutions about migration issues;
  4. Proven experience in working in international settings.

Call for applications for a Roster of Baseline Assessment Consultants

The Regional Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brussels is implementing the ACP-EU Migration Action (hereinafter the ?Action?) in support of the Dialogue between the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and the European Union on Migration and Development (hereinafter the ?Dialogue?). The Action is funded by the European Commission (EC) and implemented by IOM Brussels in close cooperation with IOM Missions in the targeted African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

In this framework, IOM is establishing a roster of consultants who, on an ad hoc basis, shall be hired to carry out baseline assessments. The consultants will be registered in the roster depending on their fulfillment of the below criteria. They might be contacted by the ACP-EU Migration Action Central Unit of IOM to further inquire on their interest and availability for a specific short-term assignment.

If the candidate will be accepted for registration in the roster, s/he will be notified of her/his registration and of the registration number corresponding to her/his file in the roster. In no way the registration in this roster guarantees that the consultant will be further contacted by IOM, nor the assignment of either a consultancy contract or any other form of employment with IOM.

Profile requirements:

  • Degree and/or advanced education degree (master or higher);
  • Diplomas or course certificates on evaluations, monitoring and evaluations, baseline assessments;
  • Extensive working experience in evaluations and  M&E, including the development of baseline assessments, acquired in Governmental and non-governmental sector, international organisations, research, academia, consulting or another;
  • Prior experience in conducting baseline assessments and/or evaluations for policy interventions with a demonstrated experience in the use of quantitative and qualitative methods and related reporting;
  • Prior experience in ACP countries;
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills with a fluent command of English and/or French and/or Spanish and/or Portuguese.
