Sponsor Pre-paid Movements to Australia and New Zealand

Discounted ticket and generous baggage allowance for the sponsors of the Australia-and New Zealand-bound migrants in Australia or New Zealand

IOM offers assistance to family or relatives of those who have been accepted for permanent residency in Australia and New Zealand under various migration visa categories such as Humanitarian, Family and Skill.  Travel and other related costs can be pre-paid by the sponsors, family or relatives in Australia and New Zealand on behalf of the settlers who do not have sufficient fund to independently purchase their tickets to depart their country of origin.  IOM has a global agreement with various airlines and has negotiated discounted airfares for the settlement of migrants which will also help those who fund the travel.  In addition IOM?s global network aids migrants with exit processes, land transportation and transit en route wherever applicable in order to ensure their dignified journey from the point of departure to the final destination airport in Australia or New Zealand.

Pre-Consular Supports to New Zealand Government

Pre-Consular supports to the government of New Zealand on their behalf where it has limited resources

This project aims to provide support services to Immigration New Zealand (or INZ, which is part of the New Zealand Department of Labour) in the administration of migration to New Zealand, particularly in countries where INZ has no or limited presence.
New Zealand is a country of immigration, accepting some 48,000 immigrants every year. However, Immigration New Zealand is not represented in many countries. It seeks representational and logistical relationships with suitable organizations to facilitate pre-consular work and related services.

INZ and IOM entered into an agreement on 8 December 2004 for IOM to provide support services to INZ in the administration of migration and travel to New Zealand.

The services IOM delivers to INZ under the Pre-Consular Supports are

  • Verification of official documents such as academic qualification, work records, and documents issued by public authorities
  • Interview and form filling for the applicants on behalf of INZ case officer
  • Logistical assistance to INZ selection missions
  • Assistance for DNA collection
  • Provision of general country information
