Pre-Consular Supports to New Zealand Government
Pre-Consular supports to the government of New Zealand on their behalf where it has limited resources
This project aims to provide support services to Immigration New Zealand (or INZ, which is part of the New Zealand Department of Labour) in the administration of migration to New Zealand, particularly in countries where INZ has no or limited presence.
New Zealand is a country of immigration, accepting some 48,000 immigrants every year. However, Immigration New Zealand is not represented in many countries. It seeks representational and logistical relationships with suitable organizations to facilitate pre-consular work and related services.
INZ and IOM entered into an agreement on 8 December 2004 for IOM to provide support services to INZ in the administration of migration and travel to New Zealand.
The services IOM delivers to INZ under the Pre-Consular Supports are
Verification of official documents such as academic qualification, work records, and documents issued by public authorities
Interview and form filling for the applicants on behalf of INZ case officer
Logistical assistance to INZ selection missions
Assistance for DNA collection
Provision of general country information
